IBIS maintenance fees include updates to the application. IBIS comes with an Updater tool that manages receiving new releases (major updates and optional hotfixes) as well as rolling back to previous major versions. The updater tool can be configured to download from our updates site, or from a locally hosted updates site where more control over the release process is desired.

Turn off updates from the web

The updater tool is configured to check for the latest versions from our updates website. If more control over the updates process is desired, you can change the default settings to check for updates from a local folder on your network. These settings can be modified during the initial install process, or if you have already installed ibis on your computer, you can manually change the update path on all computers following these steps:

  1. Click the Server button from the Login screen
  2. Open the Updating tab
  3. Un-tick the Web Update box
  4. Tick the File update box and enter the file path you wish to install updates from

From time-to-time, IBIS release required updates to the software. In these situations, IBIS will communicate in advance to all customers. If you have configured your updates to pull from a local folder, you will need to download the version update files from https://setup.ibisres.com/IbisNx/NXS/ into your folder.

Troubleshooting

Nothing happens when I try and update

Sometimes the updater won't start the unzip process to register the updated files. In some cases, if the new version is already downloaded to the client machine, the updater will do nothing at all.

The solution is to navigate to the folder IBIS is running from (in most cases C:\IBIS) and locate the Updates folder. Within here you will see two files:

  • IbisNx.Updater.exe.PendingOverwrite
  • IbisNx.Updater.exe.tmp

Delete those two files and then the updater should start to run as normal again when initiated.
