When you are replacing an existing computer that is running IBIS, you will first need to download and install the IBIS client on your new PC. In the event you are moving your IBIS licence from one computer to another or replacing your computer you may need to keep some of your IBIS files to retain your settings/templates:

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Licences

Please note that IBIS licences are allocated on a daily basis. If you open the IBIS application on your computer, replace the machine and then run IBIS on your new machine, this will take up 2 licences. You have 2 options in this scenario:

  1. Either ensure that you only run IBIS on the new computer that day
  2. Arrange with us to have your licencing temporarily extended over the period of change. Note that this may incur a licencing admin fee.

Maintaining your IBIS settings

The Machine settings store the default receipt printer name, till name, cash drawer, EFTPOS settings, etc. These will need to be set up again on your new computer. Contact IBIS if you need help recovering these - please advise the name of the computer so we can look up the settings information for you.

Once you have installed IBIS, ensure you update to the latest hotfix so you are running the most up to date version.  If you encounter a popup telling you that you are already on that version and asking if you want to re-copy the files, click YES to ensure the latest version is correctly installed.

The file [ibis.ini] is by default in the folder that IBIS has been installed in. To find out where IBIS is installed on your computer, right-click your IBIS shortcut, go to Properties and on the Shortcuts tab, check out the folder in the Target field - this is your IBIS folder.

Customers using itinerary planner templates

If you are using Itinerary Planner and merging an itinerary to a Microsoft Word template, you need to ensure that your templates will still work on the new computer.

  1. In the Global settings screen, check what the Templates directory field is set to.
  2. If set to a network location that is still going to be available once you have changed computers, then you do not need to take any action.
  3. If this points to a location on your current computer, you need to copy the files and put them into the same location on your replacement computer.

Check your export folder

If you are emailing out invoices in PDF format or generating an accounts export file, IBIS needs to be able to save them to the export folder.

  1. In the Global settings screen, check what the Export directory field is set to.
  2. If set to a network location that is still going to be available once you have changed computers, then you do not need to take any action.
  3. If it is saved in a local folder on the computer, you need to ensure that the folder exists on your new computer.

Check your graphics & logos

If you have logos printing out on A4/A5/DLE vouchers check that the Voucher graphic - top and Voucher graphic - right fields under the Ticketing tab in the Global settings screen are going to exist on your new computer. If you have your graphic set on invoices check that the Invoice header graphic field in the Global settings screen (Company tab) will exist on your new computer.

Thermal printer logos

The thermal printer graphic is loaded into the memory of the printer itself, so no need to be concerned with this being lost.

Thermal barcode labels

If you have a thermal label printer for custom barcode label printing, you must ensure that your label template can be accessed from your new computer.

  1. Open the Machine settings screen under the System menu and check the file path the working directory is set to.
  2. If set to a network location that is still going to be available once you have changed computers, then you do not need to take any action.
  3. If it is set to a local folder on the computer, you need to ensure that the folder exists on your new computer and most importantly, you will need to copy the StockLaelReport.aspx file to the new computer.
