Introduction

With the CookieYes cookie banner, you can easily request customer consent for cookie usage, empowering users to accept or reject cookies or customise their preferences. This integration ensures you remain compliant with privacy regulations while providing a transparent and user-friendly experience.

NOTE: After you have implemented CookieYes, please contact Ibis support so we can ensure all is working as expected.

Understanding data privacy laws

Data privacy laws empower users to control their personal information and its use when visiting websites. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) protects users in the European Union (EU), while other privacy laws, such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and New Zealand’s Privacy Act 2020, have been implemented for different areas.

These laws apply to any website that collects data via cookies, regardless of whether the business is physically based in the country where the law originates.

Do I have to implement CookieYes?

You have the flexibility to decide whether to implement a cookie management system on your IBIS E-Commerce platform. If you choose to implement one, CookieYes offers the easiest setup. Alternatively, if you prefer another solution, your web designer can install the necessary code snippet via Google Tag Manager (GTM) into your IBIS E-Commerce website.

How to implement CookieYes

Please contact us for your initial set up. IBIS will review your cookie list to ensure that all necessary cookies are correctly marked as "Necessary." This step is essential before proceeding further. The cost for this service is $165 + GST. Please request the customer to share their CookieYes account login details.
  1. Sign up for a CookieYes account using the following affiliate link: CookieYes Registration
  2. In the installation instruction dialogue, select the option to install with Google Tag Manager.
  3. Click the Copy key button from Step 2.

  4. Please provide IBIS Support with your valid CookieYes API key, and we will update it for you.

    IMPORTANT
Before turning on the CookieYes setting in IBIS, please check if CookieYes is already set up on your main website (not your IBIS booking page). If it is, ask your web team the following:
    1. Was CookieYes added using Google Tag Manager (GTM)?
    2. Is the same GTM setup being used for both your website and the IBIS booking site?
    3. Is CookieYes running across all pages, including the IBIS booking site?

If the answer to all three questions is YES, do not enable CookieYes in IBIS Online. Enabling it again will cause conflicts that can stop your IBIS E-Commerce site from working properly. Check your IBIS E-Commerce website as it should already be configured via your GTM implementation.

  5. To test, open your IBIS E-Commerce website and reset the server cache by appending /cart/resetcache to the end of your URL. Return to your E-Commerce homepage, and you should see the cookie consent box appear.
