This guide contains the steps and processes to get your kiosk ready. It covers Windows device setup, the kiosk URLs and the Chrome kiosk shortcut, and Smartpay EFTPOS pairing. Work through the sections in order.
It is worth plugging a USB keyboard into the device for the configuration.

Windows device setup
These are the Windows settings we recommend configuring or turning off when the device is being used as a kiosk. The dedicated kiosk account needs Administrator permissions to apply most of these changes.
Note: We recommend against using Windows Assigned Access (the built-in Windows kiosk mode). It only supports Microsoft Edge, and the IBIS Kiosk software runs in Chrome. The settings below give you the same effective lockdown manually while keeping Chrome as the browser.

- Log back in
- Relaunch the IBIS Bookings shortcut
Kiosk URLs and Chrome shortcut
The kiosk has two setup URLs and one running URL.
/kiosk/allow/ibiskiosk26– enables the kiosk on the device (sets a cookie). Used once per device./kiosksetup– the kiosk registration and Smartpay pairing screen./kiosk– the customer-facing kiosk URL used in the Chrome kiosk-mode shortcut.
Setup order matters: enable the kiosk and pair the EFTPOS terminal in a normal Chrome window first, then create the kiosk-mode Chrome shortcut once everything is confirmed working. If you are also setting up Smartpay, complete the Smartpay EFTPOS pairing section before creating the Chrome shortcut.

Enable the kiosk (/kiosk/allow/ibiskiosk26)
The kiosk controller is switched off by default. Any visit to /kiosk redirects to the home page until you turn it on. Enable the kiosk in a normal Chrome window before building the kiosk-mode shortcut.
Open Chrome normally on the kiosk account and go to:
https://{your-kiosk-site}/kiosk/allow/ibiskiosk26
That sets an ecomm-kiosk cookie on the device and redirects to the setup screen at /kiosksetup. The cookie persists until the browser is cleared.
The cookie is tied to the Chrome profile on this user account, so make sure it is set on the same account and profile that will run the kiosk.
Note: ibiskiosk26 is a basic access word to stop random visitors landing on the kiosk URL. It is not a security control.
Register the kiosk (/kiosksetup)
On the /kiosksetup screen:
- Enter the product codes of each product that will be displayed on the kiosk.
- Give the kiosk a name. It must be unique across the system.
- Type in the location the kiosk will be situated in.
- Click Register Kiosk.
Once registered, a NxID is generated and saved to the ecomm-kiosk cookie. That NxID needs to match the Active record for the kiosk in the IBIS Device screen.
If you need to reuse a kiosk name, the existing record must be disabled in the Device screen within the IBIS Client first.
Configure the Chrome kiosk shortcut
With the kiosk enabled, registered, and (if applicable) the Smartpay terminal paired, build the desktop shortcut that launches Chrome in full-screen kiosk mode.
- Right click on the desktop
- Select New > Shortcut
- Enter:
"C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" - Click Next
- Name the shortcut something like Kiosk or IBIS Bookings (just to make it clear it is the Chrome kiosk shortcut)
- Right click the shortcut and choose Properties.
- Update the Target field to:
"C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --kiosk https://your-kiosk-site/kiosk
Replace https://your-kiosk-site with the operator’s IBIS eCommerce URL supplied by IBIS.
Double click the shortcut to confirm Chrome launches into the kiosk and lands on the customer-facing main menu.
Note: Use straight quotes only. Curly quotes copied from Word will break the Target field.
