The Payment Types screen is located under the Point of Sale menu. It is used to configure different payment types allowed within the POS system.

Set up payment types

  1. Click the Add button.
  2. Enter a name for your payment type in the Pay code field, no longer than 20 characters.

  3. Choose the behaviour required for each payment type:

    AccountPrompts the user to charge the sale to an Account to be invoiced later. Accounts must be set up with the Account use 'Point of sale' to appear in the list.
    CashRounds the sale to the nearest $.10 and prompts the user to enter the amount tendered, then calculates change if required.
    Cheque Prompts the user to Check signature is correct before sale completion.
    Credit CardPrompts the user to confirm if the transaction has been accepted before sale completion.
    Note: use this behavior if setting up a Manual Eftpos button.
    EftposIf integrated eftpos is enabled in the Machine settings screen, will send payment direct to the pin pad, otherwise prompts the user to confirm if a sale is accepted (non-integrated only). Also used to specify/record cash out on eftpos transactions.
    EftposOnlineIf you hold bookings with a customer credit card, this allows you to access the payment details to process payment through integrated Windcave PxPay.
    EftposQRDisplayFor clients using Integrated EFTPOS with AliPay and WeChat Pay, displays a QR Code on the Eftpos terminal for the client to scan (requires specific terminals/devices)
    EftposQRScanFor clients using integrated EFTPOS with AliPay or WeChat Pay, this allows the scanning of a QR Code for payment (requires specific terminals/devices)
    Forex CashEnsure you specify the Forex rate and display list order used at Point of sale.
    Forex ChequeEnsure you specify the Forex rate and display list order used at Point of sale.
    Person Used when you pay off/top up a Customer account at Point of sale.


  4. Enter a report group for the payment type such as 1. Cash, 3. Eftpos. These groupings will sum the totals on the Zoff and Payments reports making it easier to do the end-of-day/bank reconciliation.

  5. Enter a % surcharge value as a number (no % symbol) if applicable (this works with the surcharge feature described below).

  6. If required, tick the Open cash drawer box to ping the till after sale completion (the till must be connected to a thermal printer or Com port to open).

  7. Click Save, and you should now see your payment type appear on the payments screen.

  8. You will now need to add the payment type button to your Point of Sale screen.


Set up a surcharge for a payment type

IBIS can automatically apply credit card surcharges to your Point of sale transactions. You can easily define different surcharge values for different payment types (e.g. Visa / Mastercard or AMEX) and it's easy to amend surcharge values if fees need to be capped or waived. 

Follow these steps to set up a surcharge: 

  1. Open the Retail items screen under the Point of Sale menu, then add a new item called "surcharge". Before you set up, carefully check a  surcharge item does not already exist as they are set up automatically with all new systems. 
  2. Make a note of the PLU code for this item. 
  3. Open the System Settings under the System menu and find the setting Payment surcharge PLU code, then enter the PLU code of the surcharge item and Save your changes.
  4. Once the surcharge is set up, open the Payment Types screen under the Point of Sale menu.
  5. Set the surcharge value for each payment type (% value only - no fixed dollar amounts).
  6. If you are charging a different surcharge for different card types, you MUST have different payment types added for each surcharge. This applies to integrated EFTPOS users as well.
  7. To trigger the surcharge popup, you must set the payment type behaviour to Eftpos.
  8. Click Save then Close.


Set up a foreign exchange payment type

  1. Follow the steps above to add the Forex payment types in the Payment Types screen.
  2. Once added, highlight the row, then specify the Forex rate and list order. The list order determines the order that the currency that will display in the POS screen popup.

  3. If a currency is no longer accepted, you can make it inactive.
